My tutoring techniques include providing students with extra practice problems, helping students to understand difficult concepts, and providing feedback on students' work. I allow my students to do a lot of questioning. The purpose of questioning is to get students actively involved in their learning by eliciting responses from them instead of giving them information. I give my tutees sufficient time to consider my questions. If they say they don’t understand, I rephrase the question. Tutees may want to take time to think about and formulate their answers; I always encourage it. I have a drill session.Drills are series of questions with a controlled response and only one right answer. It is an effective strategy for a subject that requires a lot of memorization and MCQ type questions. I make sure my tutee can apply what they have learned. For example, if I have been going over math problems, I let my tutee do a problem or two on their own.
